Mikey has over 25 years experience in the hospitality and beverage industry. Originally from the UK, Mikey moved to Australia in 1999 as a professional cocktail bartender. Since arriving in Australia, Mikey has contributed to the establishment of a number of highly successful, award-winning bars in Sydney including Zeta Bar, Palmer & Co, The Ivy Complex and Mr Wongs. In 2013 Mikey established his own venue, The Barbershop, a decorated cocktail bar housing the largest rare and modern gin collection in Australia. Following the success of his first venue, the Barrelhouse group was established. The group now consists of three Sydney venues, including the newly establish Hickson House Distilling Co which produces gin a stone’s throw from the iconic Sydney Harbour. Mikey has offered his experience as a consultant for prestigious bar openings across Asia, and has served as a judge for the Australian Gin Awards since 2019.
